Here it is. The trailer for the american adaptation of The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo. It looks brilliant. Sure to be a top contender for the best film award, and in my mind the only competition for Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.

A lot of people cried about why it was necessary for an American version, when the Swedish Film was already great. Here’s why…..because it wasn’t. The Swedish film was a poor interpretation of the book. From the casting choices, to the performances, to the large omission of significant plot details and character dynamics. After reading the book, the Swedish film really left a poor taste in my mouth. Noomi simply was not a great Lisbeth. It was too much Twilight/Kristen Stewart in her performance.

So what WAS necessary was for someone to come along and make a PROPER film out of the book. Who better to do so than David Fincher, who knows how to make intelligent adult films?

The trailer is a bit too long but it still does the job. Rooney, immediately, strikes me as a much better Lisbeth. The strength of the film may cary over into a nomination for her. Will it be leading or supporting?
